Hello everyone!
I am happy to announce the release of v0.8.0 today. This release adds 2FA functionality for the first time and introduces Libre Workspace Lite.
Changes
2-Factor Authentication (2FA, TOTP)
From now on every user can set up 2FA for the Libre Workspace portal login. In the next releases nextcloud, matrix and jitsi will switch to SSO (which Libre Workspace already supports). All in all, Libre Workspace logins will become more secure and unified, which will make it easier and faster to use on a daily basis. Libre Workspace also already has brute force protection implemented, so with this change all connected Libre Workspace apps will also become more secure.
You can find the 2FA settings in the top right corner:
Currently only TOTP is supported. In the future, YubiKeys and Passkeys will also be supported.
2FA is not currently required to be set up. However, if a user has set it up, it will become mandatory at login. 2FA can be reset by an administrator if a user has locked himself out.
Libre Workspace Lite
Libre Workspace has become not only a cloud platform, but also an easy administration platform with email notifications, automatic backups and easy extensibility via add-ons. So if you don’t want to manage your Linux server and want to save a lot of time setting up automatic actions as mentioned above, you can now use Libre Workspace even more easily by simply deselecting each module in the installation process and you will only get the management portal. This makes it a great platform on which to build. And if you decide to install some modules or add-ons later, you can do that too. The only changes in Libre Workspace Lite are
- Samba DC is not installed by default.
- The portal can also be accessed from a single port and doesn’t need an extra domain.
Other changes
- Administrator sync for nextcloud can now be disabled in the /usr/share/linux-arbeitsplatz/cfg file.
- The backup module now supports additional borg backup options, e.g. to exclude some files/directories.
